A note from the Secretary and Treasurer: We
have had a very busy year and now, it is hard to believe, it is almost
time for officer elections. Please be thinking about what you could do
to support your club by serving as an officer. If there is any position
you would be interested in, please feel free to make that known. We
will be nominating people to all the positions at the August meeting.
We will vote at the September meeting and the new officers will be
installed at the October meeting. The only way this club is going to
continue and be successful is if everyone gets involved and does
his/her part. The next item that we ask all the members to consider
and make high priority is a new field. There are rumors that building
is going to be increasing around our flying site. Even if Tom does not
sell our land, the more we have around us, the harder it will be for us
to fly without complaints. We, as a club, need to be represented at the
town meetings, park & rec meetings and all other community
functions. If the officials of the cities do not know we are there, we
cannot gain their support. Keep your eyes and ears open for any land
that we might be able to use, which might not be usable by the current
owner or we might be able to share with other park & rec programs. It is very important that we have a permanent field to ensure the continued success of our club.
The event coming up at the Apple Valley Airport on October 9th is
called "The Apple Valley Open House" instead of the Apple Valley Air
Faire. We originally thought that we would be able to fly our aircraft
this year, but new management of the airport has made some large
changes within the system and now we are not sure if we will be able to
fly. The next meeting for this event will be announced VIA e-mail, so
see Chuck Atkins or Charlie Riether for the time and place if you would
like to attend. We need club members to be there to show our club's
interest in being involved. Summer is now definitely upon us.
Please be sure that you and your family members are properly hydrated
on these hot days. We will once again have water for sale at the field
for $1.00 a bottle. It would be appreciated if the club members could
donate ice to keep this water cold. This year has been an expensive
one for our club which has left our treasury dangerously low. We need
to start having raffles at the monthly meetings again, so if anybody
has anything to donate to raffle please let one of the officers know.
Also remember when you are at the field to be ever mindful of the
people coming up to the fence. If we do not talk to anybody other than
club members, there is no way we are going to get new members in.
Without new members, this club will not last. If anybody has any other
fund raising ideas please bring it up at the next meeting. Remember, this is YOUR
club. This means that everyone needs to be involved with all aspects of
it as much as possible. There is always room for volunteers to work at
the field, to donate materials for various projects and to contribute financially.
Any contributions to better your club are always greatly appreciated.
If anyone has any ideas or comments on how we can better run the club
and/or make it grow, please be keeping those notes and bring them to
the meeting so we may discuss new ideas and possibly implement
additional policies as they are voted on. The July meeting is the
second Tuesday which is the 13th. Please mark your calendar as
everyone's input is important to make this club run smoothly.
