Helpful Tip's for all of you WARBIRD enthusiasts!!!
Question???????
My new warbird required noseweight to balance. Did I do something wrong? Why does plane require noseweight?

1. Modelers are often surprised when a warbird model requires noseweight. Please rest assured that this is very common, and is inherent in the fact that full size warbirds had huge engines in very short noses. Our engines are comparatively small and very light.
Here is a terrific little real world example:Full size Spitfire MK IX - 7500 lbs - Loaded Rolls Royce Merlin engine weight - 1650 lbs Engine weight is roughly 22% of aircraft weight Source
- Rand McNally Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft
Top Flite Spitfire - 10 lbs. Engine weight - 1 LB, 3 oz.Nose weight - 1 LB even Engine plus nose weight - 2 LB, 3 oz.
22% of 10 lbs. = 2 lbs., 3.2 oz.
Result - Top Flit version needed less nose weight than the original, despite having an enlarged tail. 19% larger as a matter of fact!

Many thanks to all those who came out to drag the new field. Its starting to look like a real airfield. Jim Slocum, John Flamme, Harvey Rikard and Willie Willson spent some long cold day's cleaning up the area. I think we may owe  Harvey a little gas money for pulling the drag up and down the runway.   Randy Hutterer is checking into getting some rail road ties so we can section off the different areas. If anyone has any ideas about how we can set up the field cheaply.
