The Club Bylaws have been voted on

At the last club meeting the main topic on the meeting agenda was the proposed Club Bylaws. After a lengthy discussion period, a vote was called and the result was an overwhelming approval of the Bylaws as written.

I think thanks are in order to the hard work of the Board for putting together a set of rules that will enable the club to grow and satisfy the lawful requirements of a 501C3 charitable organization, as well as thanks to all the members that contributed to the discussion (sometimes heated) that led to a successful result.

As boring as it may seem, at least when compared to flying model aircraft, this was an important step in ensuring the success of the club's future and providing a reasonable way of achieving our goal of becoming a premiere R/C flying site on the west coast... which we are well on our way to doing!

For those of you that haven't taken the time to read the Bylaws, but wish to, here is the link to the approved version.

Time to start improving our field

There is a meeting at the Lil' Bit Country restaurant this Wednesday 4/22/09 at 6:30PM to start the process of designing and building fences and shade structures for the field. This meeting is open to all, and anyone with a bit of building expertise, a few ideas, or just an interest in helping to take our flying site to the next level is encouraged to attend.

With summer heat coming up fast, it's important to get these projects rolling so we can fly in comfort this summer. So please plan on being at the meeting so we can get this done.

RCPRO Warbird Races Coming to VVRCF on 4/25/09

We've  got a race coming up on April 25th. This is part of the RCPRO Warbird race series and VVRCF will be hosting this event. We have quite a few members involved in this series and there will be many entrants from other clubs coming as well.

This is always a well attended event and we have the opportunity to show off our new field and host a great race. Even if you don't race, you won't want to miss the show with heads-up racing going on all day, lunch and snacks available, and lots of good folks enjoying a fun day at the Farm. This an event for the public to see what we do, so be sure to invite all your non-flying friends to come and enjoy the day with us!

Terry Yates will be running the show, and I'm sure he'll be doing his usual great job putting on this premiere event. His contact info is on the race flyer if you have any questions or want to volunteer to help with the event.

R/C Swap Meet This Sat!!

Since we have a race this Sat., some of us thought it might be a good time to bring out some of the R/C stuff hanging around the garage and see if anyone wants to take it off our hands for a fair price.

This seems like a great opportunity to do this. We will have a good crowd for the races anyway, so why not take advantage of it? There will be lots of folks from out of town and I'm sure many spectators that wouldn't normally be at the field. So take advantage of an opportunity to get rid of some stuff to make room for more stuff!

To join in the swap meet, just bring whatever you want to sell and maybe a table to display it on if you wish. There is no fee for doing this, just bring it and get ready to haggle. I heard Aaron might show up, so the bartering is sure to be stiff.
